I heard about Mount Union since I only live about an hour away, so it was always in the back of my mind during my college search. I never really considered Mount Union because I originally thought I wanted to attend a larger school or somewhere far from home. My admissions counselor came to my high school to talk about Mount, and that was one of the first compelling factors to attend. She always checked in to see how I was doing and open to answer any questions. As a first generation college student, I had plenty, so I'm grateful for her patience and help! After attending the Presidential Scholarship competition, I fell in love with the campus. A few months later I met some Mount Union faculty, and the rest is history!

As the age old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. A school can seem completely different if you only look at its website or briefly drive by it. Schedule a visit to meet students & faculty and learn about all the opportunities it has to offer. I never thought that I would end up at Mount Union, but now I can't imagine it any other way. So many things make Mount Union feel like a second home! 当我去上课的时候, I'm bound see at least one person I know, so it truly does feel like a second home since there are so many familiar faces.

I chose French as my major because my ultimate goal is to become a French teacher. I have always been fascinated by other countries and cultures, and after my first French class in 8th grade I knew I wasn't stopping there. My 8th grade French teacher is one of the most selfless and inspiring people I have ever met, and I want to have the same impact on students that she had on me. I decided to add German as a second major because I wanted to study an additional language, and Mount Union has a good program.

I have had plenty of experiential learning opportunities while at Mount Union. For education, one of these is field experience. Mount Union ensures that all teacher licensure candidates have the opportunity from their first year onward to be in different classrooms across local school districts. 找一份校园工作, I get to work in the Curriculum Resource Center, which has so many resources for those studying education. I love working there and having so many different resources readily available. Lastly, the best has probably been study abroad! I am currently studying abroad in Rouen, France. I love being able to practice my French skills everyday and go on excursions all over France since travelling is so easy in Europe!
